Jeff Sharman Memorial Aviation Maintenance Scholarship

The Legends of Flight Collection Jeff Sharman Memorial Aviation Maintenance Scholarship

This particular scholarship is given in honor of Jeff Sharman, a true friend to aviation. Jeff was born and raised in South Africa, the son of an aircraft mechanic. He attended aviation schools where he first received his A&P license and then went on to earn his pilot’s license with Commercial and Instrument ratings. Jeff and his wife Sheila came to America with very little other than a lot of aviation talent. He established a very successful business shipping light aircraft worldwide. He built, restored and repaired countless aircraft. Even though Jeff was very busy, he would drop what he was doing anytime to help out any fellow aviator who came in to his hangar with a problem. He was successful in business and exemplified what a person can accomplish with a love of aviation and a, “Burning desire to succeed!” Jeff would be proud to help young people accomplish their Aviation Dreams!

This scholarship provides $1,500 to help a worthy candidate achieve FAA A&P Certification. The scholarship is offered to any current Northern California (Greater Sacramento and Bay Areas) student attending an accredited and FAA approved school. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and currently enrolled in an aviation program.

The scholarship funds are applied directly as needed for the final testing. These funds can be used for training materials or testing fees for the A&P written, oral and practical. Upon receipt of the scholarship, the recipient must commit to volunteering for at least one Legends of Flight Collection function.

All applications must be received by October 1, 2018. Download Application PDF here
